Getting there and around
Public transport in this part of Timisoara stops early by big-city standards; after 11pm you are dependent on taxis. Tram line 1 is prone to disruption when there are roadworks on the ring, and replacement buses are slow. Parking at the accommodation is usually free, but on-street parking near the market is chaotic on Saturday mornings. Rooms at the front of buildings on Calea Aradului and Calea Torontalului can be hard to sleep in without earplugs.
When to go
Go for the spring and autumn months, when walking and tram rides are comfortable and the market on the northern side is at its busiest. High summer brings heat and heavier traffic on Calea Aradului and Calea Torontalului, and the site warns that these roads carry lorries at night, so a courtyard-facing room matters most then.
